When most people think of the Amish, they think of Pennsylvania Dutch country, in and around Southeastern Pennsylvania Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, but Mount Davis (3,213 feet) is surrounded by Amish farmland in Southwestern Somerset County. On any drive through the back roads which lead to Pennsylvania's highest point, you will see the windmills, the horse and buggy, and people working in the field on non-mechanized Amish farms.

Once at the highpoint, visitors will find the battered and weathered United States Geological Survey marker atop a large boulder, right beneath the fifty foot "fire tower" like tower. A climb to the top will afford everyone a panoramic view which extends into nearby Maryland. Also atop the tower, there is a three dimensional relief map of the surrounding area.

Located in the Mount Davis Natural Area, there are a number of hikes in Forbes State Forest that lead to Pennsylvania's highest point.
