The American South has many cities suitable for fun weekend getaways, but the jewel in the crown may well be the city fondly known as “The Athens of the South”: Nashville, Tennessee.
Nashville, located in central Tennessee’s Nashville Basin, is west of the Smoky Mountains and the Cumberland Plateau. This basin is surrounded by rolling hills, allowing the city easy access to peaceful natural retreats.
